I am an associate professor at George Washington University. My research areas include Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, increasingly in the area of south-south relations. I explore the countries of the Global South and their growing efforts to bolster one another through their common ties. Previously my focus was the cultures of Latin America, particularly the Afro-Latin Diaspora. As my interests in Sub-Saharan Africa grew, the logical next step was to look at how these two regions of the world intertwine.
